Very unhappy with myself

Posted in Group:

I am 19 years old and suffer from many different medical problems. My freshman year of high school I was a lovely 105lbs! Being in and out of the hospital and bed ridden and tried on this med and that med I have gained 85lbs since freshman year. Also stress isnt helping very much with it either. I am disgusted at myself bc I am so fat. My boyfriend and friends always tell me I am fine the way I am and I am beautiful, and I am not fat...but I just cannot believe it :(

I look at my stomach and sometimes I just want to cry and cut it off. I would LOVE to go to the gym but I just cannot afford it :( I am pretty active, i live on 2nd floor so I do stairs multiple times a day plus going to college there are stairs there...as well as I work for an ambulance company so lifting patients and doing stairs there is great and I belong to my local fire department and boy that is a workout itself...but i just dont see a difference... i have limited myself to eat one verrry small meal a day, my bf is of course majorly pissed at me, but i need to do what i need to do for myself.

any advice? thanks jessica

Often, people forget that it took time to gain weight, therefore it will take time to lose weight. Each time you want to eat something, eat a smaller portion, do not get stressed, be patient and everything will work out well. Take care of yourself. God bless you.

Thank you. I only eat once a day and usually under 15bites of food. I am trying to be patient but being this fat is making me super depressed and i hate myself.

I share your stress. I have lived a life in the fat lane and am desperate to shed the extra baggage. I have been having good luck with removing white carbs from my diet and replacing them with more complex carbohydrate such as beans etc. 12 lbs so far and all I have to do is control the cravings for carbohydrates not food in general. GL with your weight loss.

Hi Jessica, the first thing I want to say is that eating one very small meal a day is not going to help you lose weight. When you deprive your body of food, your body will basically start looking for food elsewhere, like your muscles. It's really important that you have a balanced plan. I also used to be very thin in high school. I was in sports. Once I started college and stopped playing sports, that's when the pounds started slowly coming on. Start eating more protein...it sustains you longer. Obviously, sugar will give you a temporary satisfaction because it spikes your blood sugar, but then quickly crashes and makes you feel hungry again. So, try and stay away from sugar as much as you can. Veggies and some fruit is good too. We are all here to support you!

Luv;

I try and eat a lot of veggies; very rarely I eat junk food; Ill eat chips here and there but otherwise I stay away from junkfood.

Thank you for being here to support me, i appreciate it.

I know that eating just one small portion is not good for me but mentally I cannot strive to eat more...I look at food and it gets me depressed. Im lucky if I eat the one meal a day but my boyfriend forces me to. If I could afford to go to the gym then I would eat properly and then exercise...

I certainly understand your "dislike" for food...but, food CAN be your friend. I think if you start thinking differently about food, you will eat what your body needs and you will start to see results. Just something to think about :)

I agree with Luv- your perspective on food has to change. I know exactly how you feel when it comes to not wanting to eat because eating has gotten you to where you are now. I totally understand!! Just consider looking at food in a new light (it's medicine when taken in proper doses, and it's poisen when overdosed). I am on a mission to positively change my lifestyle- and you can be too...get encouragement by googling "weight loss success stories" and see how they did it. Trust me, you can do this!!
